For established international consumer brands
Your product is proven.
Is Japan your next growth market?
Your product has already won customers abroad. We help turn that momentum into a credible Japanese launch, profitable customer acquisition and repeat-purchase growth — without building a local marketing team from scratch.
One coordinated Japan partner. A focused first launch. Reusable marketing assets and measurable economics.
Led by EDURISE Inc. · Market strategy × Japanese consumer activation × performance creative
01 / The commercial challenge
Global product demand does not automatically become Japanese demand.
Your product may already have thousands of customers abroad. In Japan, however, your first customer still needs a compelling reason to buy — and confidence that it will arrive, work and be supported.
Will the offer resonate?
Overseas copy, pricing and product features rarely answer every Japanese comparison, usage or warranty question.
Who connects the pieces?
Localization, creators, paid media, e-commerce, distribution and support often sit with different teams — leaving coordination with the manufacturer.
How much should you invest?
Hiring a local team and committing inventory before knowing acquisition economics can be an expensive bet.
The answer is not “translate and launch.” It is to build local sales evidence — and use it to decide what to scale.
02 / The partnership
One Japan entry. Three connected engines.
EDURISE coordinates a practical path from first purchase to long-term commerce — so launch-day activity becomes a platform for continued growth, not a one-off announcement.
LAUNCH
Identify the right customer, message and price. Build a Japanese sales story and activate an eligible launch channel.
ACQUIRE
Turn verified proof, demonstrations and consented content into paid video and advertorial campaigns.
RETAIN
Develop a repeat-purchase program for proprietary consumables, accessories, refills or services.
03 / A launch channel with a purpose
What is Makuake — and why launch there?
Makuake is a Japanese early-adopter commerce platform where customers pre-order new products and experiences from project creators. It gives brands a way to tell a complete product story, present launch offers and learn from real purchase behavior.
It can be a compelling introduction for overseas products that have not yet been widely available in Japan. But the channel is a means to an end: learning what Japanese customers buy, at what price, and why.
EDURISE is an independent marketing company, not Makuake itself or its authorized representative. Every proposed project requires eligibility and platform review. See the official import-agent guide.
* Reported by Makuake on 29 July 2019; historical figures, not current totals, approval rates or a forecast for this product. Read Makuake’s release.
After the first launch
Verifiable sales milestones, customer questions, selected bundles and product-use feedback can inform ongoing creative, retail discussions and product extensions.
04 / Execution credibility
Market strategy meets real consumer activation.
Our marketing partner has reported supporting a Makuake project that ranked No. 1 on its launch day and ultimately exceeded ¥150 million in support purchases. EDURISE connects that launch experience with positioning, direct-response copy, sales pages, video and acquisition analysis.
The strength is not a promise of rankings. It is the ability to combine a meaningful Japanese launch plan with a team experienced in consumer activation and conversion.
These are partner-reported historical capabilities, not stand-alone EDURISE outcomes. Activity, reach and participants are scoped per product. No rank or sales amount is guaranteed.
EDURISE / strategy & conversion
Hiroshi Oohigashi brings 15 years of marketing and creative experience as described in EDURISE’s portfolio, with work spanning 300+ organizations and 3,000+ business owners through consulting, training and campaign support.
EDURISE leads Japanese positioning, sales copy, LPs, videos, performance direction, analytics and project management.
Creative intelligence / faster iteration
We use AI-assisted research, creative variation and post-launch learning to test more useful selling ideas — not to replace real product evidence. In one external partner’s training example, CTR improved from 1.76% to 4.55% and CPC from the ¥60 range to ¥35; these figures are not an EDURISE case or a projection of your results.
05 / The Japan launch system
From market fit to measurable growth.
We work from a short list of meaningful decisions, not a long list of disconnected marketing tasks.
Qualify the opportunity
Japan distribution rights, local competitors, regulatory readiness, landed cost, supply, warranties and repeat-product economics.
Create the Japanese offer
Customer segments, positioning, pricing/bundles, localized sales page, FAQs and video demonstration concepts.
Launch & learn
Where eligible, Makuake launch planning with PR, consented creator content and paid media. Measure real orders and contribution.
Scale & retain
After channel restrictions end, expand direct-to-consumer acquisition, CRM, consumable replenishment and customer LTV.
What your team receives
A product-specific Japan opportunity assessment, offer and campaign plan, localized selling assets, clear performance reporting and a next-stage growth recommendation. Final outputs are defined in a statement of work.
What your team keeps control of
Product specifications, manufacturing and fulfillment decisions, warranty commitments, brand approvals and budget decisions. The responsible importing/selling entity is identified contractually.
06 / Commercial reality
Build the case on profit, not a vanity sales number.
A successful launch is one you can learn from and build upon.
We evaluate Japanese price acceptance, real customer acquisition cost, landed gross margin, platform fees, shipping, support and returns — then model the value of future refill or accessory purchases conservatively.
Where the product has proprietary filters, pads, pods, ink or similar replacement needs, we discuss Japan rights for those products from the start. A strong first campaign without rights to repeat revenue may leave the larger opportunity uncaptured.
How engagements are scoped
Professional work and hard launch costs are separated. Fees cover agreed research, offer, pages, creative strategy, management and reporting. Media, samples, external production, consumer activation, logistics, certification and platform costs are scoped separately.
We do not promise a fixed ROI before we know product margins, Japan rights, compliance or supply conditions.
07 / Approval & alternatives
What if crowdfunding is delayed — or not the right fit?
A platform review is a real gate, not a formality. We prepare for it early and design the sales assets so the work can support an alternative route if needed.
Review and import requirements: Makuake documentation guidance and import-agent guidance.
08 / Questions from international brands
Questions worth resolving before investing.
Do we need an exclusive distributor in Japan?
For an overseas-product import-agent project, Makuake requires a qualifying Japan exclusivity arrangement and other relevant conditions. A launch-period agreement and the potential for longer-term distribution can be discussed separately. Rights are not assumed available.
Can we continue selling the same product elsewhere in Japan during Makuake?
Makuake’s import-agent guidance describes restrictions on simultaneous domestic sales of the same product during the project-to-reward-delivery period. We map your current channels before proposing the route.
Does our product need Japanese certification or a local importer?
Requirements vary by product. We help identify what must be checked early, but the responsible importer and qualified experts confirm regulatory, customs, safety and warranty compliance.
How large is the launch investment?
It depends on product price, samples, regulatory work, creative requirements and media spend. We propose professional fees separately from external launch costs, with a phased scope and approvals before external spend.
What happens if Makuake is not suitable?
Where Japan-ready and legally permissible, a direct-sales validation route can use paid video and advertorials leading to a localized product store. We agree a new scope and budget before changing channels.
Can you guarantee a No. 1 ranking or a revenue target?
No. We have access to a partner with a reported No. 1 launch-day case, but any current performance claim must be earned and verifiable. Customer response, platform eligibility and unit economics determine actual results.
09 / Your first conversation
You do not have to commit to a Japan launch to explore the opportunity.
A focused discussion starts with your product — not a generic agency presentation. We identify whether a crowdfunding-first launch, a direct-sales pilot or a decision to wait is the commercially sensible next step.
Share your product
Send your product URL, brand and current Japan sales or distribution status. A detailed brief is not needed for the first contact.
Clarify the opportunity
We discuss Japanese customers, differentiation, rights, landed margin, product readiness and repeat-purchase potential — and identify what still needs verification.
Agree the next decision
Where there is a potential fit, we can scope a product-specific Japan Opportunity Brief, launch roadmap and fee-versus-launch-budget structure for your review.
A first conversation is exploratory. No ranking, approval or revenue outcome is promised; commercial terms are proposed only after product-specific evaluation.
YOUR NEXT MARKET / JAPAN
You built the product.
Let’s examine the Japanese opportunity.
Send a product URL, the brand name and the main question you need answered about Japan. We will use that context to identify the first commercial and operational points worth discussing.
